VA Appointments Today
Talking about oneself can be one of the hardest things to do at times. Put in perspective, it really isn’t too difficult if you just relay the events affecting your day I suppose. For example, today I have 2 appointments at the VA (Veteran’s Affairs) Hospital (Vanderbilt) in Nashville.
On top of that, I have class tonight at ITT, not too far from Vandy. The strange thing is, I rarely sleep on the night before I have an appointment. It’s probably because of the way being in the hospital, around other veterans and soldiers makes me feel. Kinda hard to explain but it’s like revisiting a place I haven’t been in a long time and having the emotions flush to the surface all at once. Being diagnosed with PTSD is something I have fought with for over 3 years now and I guess expected to get over it altogether eventually. It just takes on different forms with different triggers.
Oddly enough, my appointments aren’t cause for much anxiety, just an eye exam and dental surgery. The eye exam is well overdue, my own fault, but I’m in dire need of some corrective vision for sure. The dental surgery will involve removing my wisdom teeth, apparently they’ve impacted and have been growing into the jawbone – ouch! I’ll be happy to get that over with anyway.
Nashville is only an hour drive, but I’ll end up staying till class starts; no sense in wasting a trip, especially with gas prices nowadays!
Have a blessed day,
