People refer to a successful internet marketer’s mentality as their ‘why’ or the Law of Attraction. These are both true. There is an old cliche that says you become what you surround yourself with most, or you are who you associate with. When is the last time you seen a group of teenagers with skateboards hanging out at a corner store and thought: I bet one of those guys is a businessman. Pretty unlikely.
Being creatures of habit, we tend to stick with what we know versus another popular mantra to fake it till we make it. Mentality has everything to do with success and not just in internet marketing.
When Thomas Edison was asked why he continued trying to make the light bulb after so many failures he simply stated: “I didn’t fail, I just found 9,999 ways NOT to make the light bulb.”
How true.
Jim Rohn says “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.”
Discipline is driven by our mentality as well. Just because something is simple, doesn’t mean it is easy to do, often times it is quite difficult to change our habits because it means sacrificing something we are familiar with.
When we object to change, it is like we are building a wall to protect ourselves from risks (of loss, confusion, discomfort) and blocking anything we perceive as negative or potentially harmful. This is instinctual. In so doing, however, we also prevent the positive things from entering our lives.
One resounding theme you will hear successful people say… Emulate those you most want to be like.
Find someone who has what you want and find out what they did to get there. We can never completely remove negativity from our lives, we can choose to have a positive outlook; you may be surprised at what that mentality will attract.
